Getting your RV in Tip-Top Shape
The checklist
- Inspect all doors and compartments for rodent damage and water intrusion.
- Replace any dry cell batteries you may have removed for winter storage.
- Test the safety detectors — carbon monoxide, LP gas leak, and smoke.
- Open the awnings and let them dry.
- Raise the antennas.
- Inspect all seams, windows and vents for water damage and reseal if necessary.
- Lubricate hinges and locks.
- Test the hydraulic jacks.
- Check tire pressure and tire condition.
Preventive measures
Mothballs near the refrigerator burners discourage spiders from nesting there. Sheets of fabric under the mattresses discourage mice — they don’t like the smell.
Systems to verify before you leave
Propane, furnace, refrigerator, air conditioner, electrical system, wastewater system, and the RV batteries.
