Getting your RV in Tip-Top Shape

The checklist

• Inspect all doors and compartments for rodent damage and water intrusion.
• Replace any dry cell batteries you may have removed for winter storage.
• Test the safety detectors — carbon monoxide, LP gas leak, and smoke.
• Open the awnings and let them dry.
• Raise the antennas.
• Inspect all seams, windows and vents for water damage and reseal if necessary.
• Lubricate hinges and locks.
• Test the hydraulic jacks.
• Check tire pressure and tire condition.

Preventive measures

Mothballs near the refrigerator burners discourage spiders from nesting there. Sheets of fabric under the mattresses discourage mice — they don’t like the smell.

Propane, furnace, refrigerator, air conditioner, electrical system, wastewater system, and the RV batteries.
