RV Tips & Tricks

Exterior Cleaning and Protection for Your RV

RVs feature diverse exterior surfaces requiring specific maintenance approaches. Each material — from rubber roof membranes to fabric awnings — demands tailored care instructions. Applying protective products is an important maintenance step, as washing alone isn’t enough to keep your RV in top shape. UV exposure represents the primary threat to exterior integrity.

Roof Care

Begin from the top when washing. Apply a cleaner formulated specifically for rubber membranes, as incorrect products can cause damage. Follow with a rubber roof treatment to extend membrane life, facilitate future cleaning, and reduce black streaks caused by oxidation.

Sidewall Maintenance

Wash sidewalls with an appropriate cleaner, then apply wax for protection and restoration. A deoxidiser and wax addresses dull, chalky fibreglass surfaces by restoring shine and preventing further deterioration.

Slideout Seals

The rubber seals on your slideouts can break down over time, requiring application of a rubber seal conditioner after washing to create water-repellant protection and prevent UV damage.

Tire Protection

UV rays damage tires as well. Use specialized tire cleaning products to clean, shine, and protect against UV exposure.

Rust Treatment

Apply specialized paint promptly to any rust spots on exposed steel components like hitching mechanisms, steps, or propane tanks.

Pressure Washing Caution

Maintain low pressure and safe distance when pressure washing to avoid RV damage.

Decal and Paint Protection

Test protective products in inconspicuous areas before full application. Ask us for make-and-model-specific recommendations.
